Kamila Ruiz (2024)
Kamila Ruiz is a freelance embroidery designer and textile artist based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her work blends artistic sensitivity, technical precision, and a contemporary perspective on embroidery as a visual language.
Her practice began in 2020, driven by a desire to reconnect with the tangible through handcraft. What started as a personal exercise soon evolved into a professional path focused on creating embroidered pieces with a strong emphasis on texture and meticulous detail. Specializing in needle painting, Kamila has developed a distinct and expressive visual language, applied to a wide range of materials including wool, tulle, organza, silk, and cotton.
Passionate about craft and contemporary textiles, she explores abstraction and ephemerality through techniques such as embroidery (Lunéville, traditional, needle painting), weaving, crochet, basketry, upcycling, and the use of fragile materials as narrative and emotional tools.
She currently collaborates with brands, designers, and projects in the fashion world, including samples, capsule collections, and bridal proposals, bringing hand-embroidered details that elevate each piece with a unique identity. In addition to designing and crafting each piece, she also provides on-site training to ensure the embroidery is executed in line with the creative vision.
With over four years of experience, Kamila sees embroidery as a powerful medium for expression, identity, and storytelling, defined by deep dedication in every stitch and a visual sensitivity that bridges the artisanal with the contemporary.
